Tourism has long been an important part of the North Shore economy. From our beautiful beaches and scenic trails to our local shops, restaurants, museums, galleries, and events, visitors help support businesses, create jobs, and contribute to the vibrancy of our communities.

Recent announcements regarding the closure of several provincial museums and visitor information centres have raised concerns among many residents, businesses, and tourism stakeholders. These facilities have played an important role in welcoming visitors, sharing local stories, and encouraging travellers to explore the communities that make our region unique.

While these changes present challenges, they also provide an opportunity for communities to come together and think creatively about how we continue to promote and support the North Shore.

Across our region, businesses, volunteers, municipalities, non-profit organizations, and tourism operators are already working hard to create memorable experiences for visitors. From community events and farmers’ markets to local attractions and outdoor recreation opportunities, there is no shortage of reasons for people to visit the North Shore.

At the North Shore Community Development Association (NSCDA), we believe that collaboration will be more important than ever. By working together, sharing information, supporting local initiatives, and promoting the incredible experiences available throughout our communities, we can continue to attract visitors and strengthen our local economy.

The North Shore has always been defined by its people. Our welcoming communities, entrepreneurial spirit, and commitment to supporting one another are what make this region special. While the tourism landscape may be changing, those qualities remain unchanged.

As we look to the future, the NSCDA remains committed to supporting economic development, tourism growth, and community vitality throughout the North Shore. We look forward to working with our partners and communities to ensure our region continues to be a destination that residents are proud to call home and visitors are excited to discover.

Together, we can continue to showcase everything that makes the North Shore a remarkable place to live, work, and visit.
